MEMBERS NOTICE BOARD
Jean Webster's painting was voted 'Best in Show' at the Annual Open Evening in September 2024.
We are going to have a tombolla again at the 'Day on the Stray' so if any members have anything they can donate we will be grateful.
The committee of Lightcliffe Stray have asked us to exhibit our paintings at their next 'Day on the Stray' on Sunday 1st September 2024 1-5pm.
Jo Brown's watercolour was voted 'Best in Show' at the annual open evening 2023.
Beginning at the open evening the first Thursday in September we will be starting our meetings at 7pm and finishing at 9pm.
The event on The Stray was highly successful with visitors complimenting us on our stall and the quality of the paintings for sale. We made £146 on the tombolla and sold 5 paintings. We gave 10% to the organisers to be used to improve The Stray.
The next event will be on Sunday 3 September at The Stray, Lightcliffe, from 2-6pm. Members can submit paintings for the display boards and there will be a demonstration by Mathew Evans and of course a tombola.
Thanks to everyone for making the Brighouse Gala a success. We had a really good turnout with many painting being sole and the tombola was also successful.
Thanks to everyone for making the Christmas party a great success. The quiz, raffle and supper were especially well organised. Happy Christmas and successful New Year to everyone.
At the AGM existing committee members agreed to continue with the exception of Margaret Clements, library notice board organiser. Helen Summerville is now in charge of the notice boards at Brighouse and Elland libraries. Sue Smith is going to continue organising demonstrators but will stand down at the end of August 2024. This gives her time to train someone else up. We need more members so if anyone can help with this it would be great. Duncan said we had had a good year with everything ticking over nicely and Steph said the finances are healthy. It was decided that from September 2022 we are going to start meetings at 7pm until 9pm.
The Annual General Meeting is to be held on 13 October at 7.30pm.
After a successful Annual Open Evening Helen Sumervile was awarded the Marion Nash memorial trophy for her fabulous watercolour which was voted best in show by art circle members.
We have now finished holding the outside painting sessions for 2022. We've had some lovely venues and been lucky with the weather.
The 2021 Christmas party was a great success and enjoyed by one and all.
We are able now to meet on Thursday evenings at 7.30 and hope to be able to move forward. Everyone is welcome to come along and join us for the friendly meetings.
At the 2021 Annual General Meeting Duncan remained as Chairman and Jo is the new vice chairman. Arrangements were made for the coming season.
