  • You are welcome to join us on our outside painting sessions and meet up with fellow members.  We are meeting as friends and NOT as art circle members due to membership being suspended in August and won't be renewed until we are able to hold inside meetings again.  The club doesn't have insurance so everyone meets at their own risk and are asked to conform to government restrictions.   The friends who are attending decide on the following week's venue etc.  For more details, email    

  • At the AGM it was decided to increase workshop fees to £2 and annual subscriptions to £25.  This is to facilitate the increase in rent.  Also Geoff was thanked for his 9 years as chairman and Max was appointed to the position.  

  • Congratulations to Duncan Anderson whose atmospheric painting was voted best in show at the 2019 annual art exhibition.

  • Congratulations to Michael Briggs with his pastel cat painting which was voted best in show at the 2019 annual open evening

  • Congratulations to Moira Spencer and Chris Stocks who jointly were voted best in show at the 2018 annual open evening.

  •  Congratulations to June Johnson for winning the Colin Scholey annual award at Norwood Green Art Circle in December 2017.

  • Congratulations to Barbara Goodall for winning the glass painting in the Christmas raffle.  it was made by members at a recent glass workshop.

  • Congratulations to Sue Smith for winning the 'Best in Show' at the Mytholmroyd exhibition with her pastel painting 'My Best Side' in October.

  • Congratulations to Derrick McDermott for winning Best in Show at the September  open evening.

  • Congratulations to Brian Edwards for winning the raffle at the  open evening.  It was a painting kindly donated by David Newbould which he painted at a demonstration.

  • Congratulations to Sue Smith and Chris Stocks who were joint winners of 'Best in Show' at the annual exhibition 2015.

  • Congratulations go to Brian Edwards for his acrylic cat painting which was voted 'Best in Show' at the annual open evening.  Brian was presented with a gift voucher and certificate.

  • We now have a new projection system for use in our demonstrations.  Everyone will be able to see the demonstration on the large screen.

  • We are holding a permanent exhibition at Number Seven Martin Street, Brighouse. This is a beautifully renovated building and the paintings are hung in the lovely modern reception area.

  • Congratulations to Sue May and Sue Tag with their winning entries into competitions.  Sue May won artist of the year with her collage in the SAA Paint magazine competition and Sue Tag won second prize at the Southowram craft show.

  • Congratulations to Brian Edwards for his best in show 'Flatford Bridge' painting and Sue Smith for her second best in show 'Got Ya' in the recent exhibition at Smith Art Gallery.  Brian's is going to be published in Leisure Painter later in the year.  

  • Thanks to Gwen Hawdon who has donated a large amount of fantastic art books.  They are all in lovely condition and will be a great asset to our library.  Thanks again to Gwen, the books are really appreciated.
